Walking through Borders bookstore the other day, I came across a book called 'Scar Tissue'. It's the biography of Anthony Kiedis, front man for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I guess I never realized what life as a rock star is REALLY like. He was smoking dope, shooting heroin and banging chicks when he was 14 yrs old! Meant to be a rocker. Anyways, it's a great read and if you have any interest in what it's like to grow up a bad ass, please check it out.
I also purchased 'The Fountainhead', and I'll admit it's been a bit tough to get into. I guess it's a far stretch from 'Scar Tissue', but of course these are two different stories but I am sensing a common theme in both (young men struggling to accept societal standards). The main character in 'The Fountainhead' is a young man named Howard Roark. Roark is an intransigent architect who struggles with a battle against conventional standards. In case you don't know what intransigent means, it is "characterized by refusal to compromise or to abandon an extreme position or attitude" (I looked that up, for sure).
